Gameplay looks really fun, but not TOO technically demanding from what I've seen (not bullet hell-y like Gungeon, or a weird control scheme like Tumbleseed), and the weapons and upgrades seem like they allow for a lot of variety and replayablity. The safe code is found in a pouch underwater beneath the barge, or, if the Safe Code favor is purchased before the mission, written on the wall behind the boathouse. ![]() Got Gungeon not that long ago and like it, but again haven't spent enough time with it yet (and it just got a big update itself).Īnd finally Rogue Legacy I have on Vita and like it probably the best of all the Rogue-like/lites I've played (a bit simple, but fun and has a fairly steady upgrade path), which is why I have a lot of hope for Dead Cells. Wayward Souls I kinda like, but don't love the way secondary items/abilities worked (stuff like shields are a usable resource).īought Tumbleseed on Switch, but it's a very weird game and haven't dived into it too deeply (it has gotten a lot of updates to tweak the difficulty and stuff like that). Tried Spelunky, but sucked too much at it to make any progress (wish I liked it more, seems like a truly fantastic game other than the fact I don't personally like it much). I'm hoping this might be the first Rouge-like/lite that actually clicks with me. Limiting options to the better melee weapons, most traps, and certain bows and grenades would make the majority of runs not end in death. Removing basically all shields, most bows, many powers, and some grenades would make the game a lot easier. That said the game would be a lot easier if I could "refund" a lot of blueprints for gear I think is terrible and thus only have good things drop. I find basically everything fun to experiment with and in another thread I mentioned that finding amazing legendary variant of weapons I normally dislike or think are bad and completing runs with them is probably the main reason I keep playing after having beaten it repeatedly. This was before many significant gameplay change updates though so not sure how initial encounters would be using new systems. I remember dying to The Watcher way too many times before finally beating him. Some can definitely destroy you immediately though. There are random enemy spawns called Elites that (generally) won't attack until you attack them but they aren't bosses and they don't need to be fought. There are other weapons which I think are not as good but are fun like some bows or hayabusa gear. ![]() Finding legendary torch or firebrands or pyrotechnics or fire torrent or frost blast usually makes for a good run.
